Counselling

What is to be expected

I will be with you every step of the way on your journey and listen empathically to your story. My approach is down to earth and informal, I am not going to tell you what to do or how you should be, as I believe you know yourself better than anyone. It is my job to accompany and support you on your journey in finding your own answers, which you may not have had the opportunity to discover yet.

After you have completed the ‘Contact Us’ form, I will call you for a brief, free, introductory discussion about your concerns and to arrange an initial assessment (video/telephone).

The details of the initial assessment including online link, date, time, cost and confidentiality agreement will be sent via email following your introductory discussion.

You will be asked to confirm that you are happy with these arrangements before going ahead.

Free 30 minute Consultation

This is your chance to explain what has brought you to this point of seeking some support, and allows you to ask any questions which you may have regarding the process. This gives you a chance to get to know me (as first impressions are always important!) and it gives me the opportunity to help you feel more at ease (as I have been through this process myself, so I know how important it is)

During your consultation you can ask as many questions as you like and discuss the different options available to you, you can get to know who I am and see if we are a good match for working together. I will also provide you with a working agreement and contract to read and sign prior to our first session. This will last for 30 minutes via telephone and each consultation is free of charge.

Initial session

During the initial session we will revisit the working agreement and contract to ensure you are fully understanding and you have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about them.

I will explain boundaries and confidentiality and we will also talk about what brought you to counselling and what your goals/desired outcomes may be.

I will not give you advice or my opinion, make a diagnosis or prescribe you medicine. We will help you to find your own solutions, whether this is making some effective changes in your life, finding ways to cope better with your problems or look deeper into relationships.

Sessions will be 60 minutes and we will also discuss whether you wish to book several sessions or take each one as it goes.

Sessions

All sessions will be 60 minutes long. I work with what you bring to the session. I might ask questions, we may look at coping strategies but please remember you don’t have to talk about anything that you don’t want to. I can provide a non-judgemental space of stability and warmth, working together to get the best out of the therapeutic relationship and meet your needs.

Dave, Lichfield UK

"Ellie has supported me in putting my past behind me, I have been dependant on Alcohol & Cocaine for the best part of ten years. I always doubted myself, and when things went wrong I relapsed and broke relationships with friends and family. We worked together to figure out why that was, she helped me to see a future without drink and drugs.

Go for it - I would highly recommend" - Dave, Lichfield
